President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat to award a full scholarship to one Thomas Amoaning after a social media video reporting his excellent result.

Thomas Amoaning, a needy student and a native of a rural community Asuaba, near Adeiso in the Eastern Region, recently completed his secondary education at Adeiso Senior High School and shocked many by obtaining grade A1 in all the 8 subjects he took at the just ended West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).

In a statement sighted by Plan B and signed by the Registrar of Scholarships Mr Kingsley Agyeman, it read, “As a normal practice and taking into consideration the socio geographical background of the student, H.E. the President has expressly directed the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat to grant a full scholarship award to the student for his tertiary studies.”

According to the release, the scholarship secretariat has established contact with the student and parents and will on Friday, November 27, 2020 pay a visit to the family to discuss their needs in detail.

Concluding the statement, it said, “We again seize this opportunity to inform our cherished WASSCE graduates to prepare themselves for a big announcement from the secretariat on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.”
