The Presidency has urged residents in flood-affected communities across the country to remain vigilant and strictly observe safety precautions as persistent heavy rainfall continues to trigger flooding in several areas.

In a public advisory, the Presidency called on residents in affected locations to stay indoors if they are in safe environments and avoid taking unnecessary risks.

People whose homes have been inundated by floodwaters have been advised to move immediately to higher ground and contact emergency services by calling 112 for assistance.

The statement also cautioned motorists against driving through flooded roads, specifically naming the Mallam–Kasoa Road, Alajo and Graphic Road areas as routes to avoid. Drivers were urged to turn back if they encounter floodwaters and seek safer, elevated locations.

As part of the safety measures, the public was further advised to unplug electrical appliances and keep away from electrical poles, transformers and fallen power lines to reduce the risk of electrocution.

The Presidency stressed that the safety of the public remains paramount and encouraged residents to rely on official updates and comply with emergency directives as authorities continue to monitor the situation.
