Politicians’ Medical Trips Abroad: Hypocrisy or Necessity? Plan B FM CEO Questions Motives

Amend Article 88 (5) for Effective Anti-Corruption Fight – Comfort Aniagyei
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Mrs Comfort Aniagyei, CEO of FreeMinds Communication Limited, has questioned the rationale behind politicians travelling abroad for medical healthcare, citing it as either a necessity or hypocrisy.

In an interview with Odiamono Kwaku Gyimah on Plan B FM’s Nkɔsoɔnsɛm show, Mrs Aniagyei stated that the lack of health facilities in Ghana forces politicians to travel abroad due to their access to resources, leaving ordinary Ghanaians in a difficult situation.

“Are we all not Ghanaians in the eyes of the Constitution?” she asked. “Why then do politicians travel abroad, leaving the remaining Ghanaians in such a shattered state? We are all equal before the Constitution.”

She further highlighted the need for improved healthcare infrastructure, citing an example: “We had to purchase an incubator for the Tema General Hospital because there were no hospital beds to accommodate lactating mothers.”

Mrs Aniagyei called for an end to this practice by furnishing local hospitals in Ghana, ensuring that adequate healthcare facilities are available to all citizens.
