A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere-Darko has cautioned Ghanaians against politics of lies ahead of 2020 elections.
According to him, there is an agenda by opposition parties to adopt a nasty campaign and smear the character of some big men in NPP to create disaffection for the party.
He made this comment following a viral video attributed to him and the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
In the said video, a number of young men are seen packing huge sums of GHC 100 and GHC 200 notes in a building.
They are said to be the invisible hands behind the money.
Reacting to the speculations, Gabby Otchere-Darko wrote on his Facebook; “It looks like this is going to be one very nasty campaign season: similar to, if not worse than, what we saw in 2008 when NDC was again in opposition.
“I’ve seen videos of plenty 200- and 100-Cedi notes being packed in what clearly looks like reception of an office building, with a reception desk! The first blatant lie was that the cash was secretly recorded in the house of the Minister for National Security.”

It looks like this is going to be one very nasty campaign season: similar to, if not worse than, what we saw in 2008 when NDC was again in opposition.
I’ve seen videos of plenty 200 and 100 Cedi notes being packed in what clearly looks like a reception of an office building, with a reception desk!
1. The first blatant lie was that the cash was secretly recorded in the house of the Minister for National Security.
2. The next big lie put on Facebook and amplified by an NDC group was that the cash was delivered to the house of “Gabby Okyere Darko, nephew to the President.”
3. Lastly, the “ownership” lie has passed on to the Finance Minister’s house.
I have been pushed, for fear of this dangerous lie making my family home a target for armed robbers, to report this matter to the security authorities.
In the name of partisan politics, we lie to put people’s lives in harm’s way.
