On August 18, 2024, a 25-year-old man named Stanley Ahadzi was shot dead at the frontage of the Koans Estate in Satellite-Kuntunse, Adjen Kotoku in the Greater Accra Region.

The Amasaman Division of the Ghana Police Service reported that the deceased was killed in a dispute over fare with a commercial driver who is also a police officer with the International Relations Directorate of the Ghana Police Service by the name Constable Smith Gyekyi.

It has been confirmed by MyNewsGh.com that the deceased was not a passenger but had been invited by the passenger, Esther Owusua, whom suspect Smith Gyekyi had picked up from Ablekuma Joma to the Koans Estate area at Kuntunse Satellite.

Ms. Esther Owusua had called the deceased to come and assist her with directions to her destination. However, upon his arrival, a disagreement over the fare Ms. Owusua was supposed to pay arose between the two men.

This led to “Suspect Gyekyi becoming annoyed and pulling out his sidearm, shooting the deceased without any provocation.”

The body of deceased Stanley Ahadzi has been taken to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation pending an autopsy.

Suspect Smith Gyekyi, who surrendered himself to the police at Amasaman, has been detained, and his pistol retained for investigations, as stated in the police report.
