In a startling incident that has left many in the law enforcement community both stunned and alarmed, Lance Corporal Kennedy Baah has been accused of biting off the ear of his superior, Chief Inspector Gati, during a heated confrontation while on duty.

According to preliminary reports, the altercation occurred late in the evening during a routine patrol operation. Tensions reportedly flared when Lance Corporal Baah allegedly shone his flashlight directly into Chief Inspector Gati’s eyes. The act, considered disrespectful and provocative, reportedly triggered a verbal exchange between the two officers.

Eyewitness accounts suggest the disagreement quickly escalated into a physical struggle. In the chaos, Baah allegedly bit off a portion of the Chief Inspector’s ear, causing severe bleeding and immediate distress. Gati was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment.

The Ghana Police Service has yet to release an official statement, but internal sources confirm that an investigation is underway. Both officers have been temporarily removed from active duty pending the outcome of the inquiry.

“This is an extremely serious matter,” a senior officer at the Police Headquarters told reporters under condition of anonymity. “We are treating it not just as a disciplinary issue but a criminal one. The public expects our officers to uphold the highest standards of conduct.”

The incident has sparked concern among human rights groups and civil society organizations, who say it underscores the urgent need for emotional intelligence training, stress management, and internal conflict resolution mechanisms within the police service.

As the investigation unfolds, the Ghana Police Service faces renewed pressure to address rising concerns about professionalism, discipline, and intra-force relations before another confrontation goes too far.

For now, the nation watches closely as the case of the bitten ear unfolds into what may become one of the most bizarre disciplinary sagas in recent police history.
