Police Chief Inspector reportedly commits suicide at Odorkor police quarters

A police officer identified as Chief Inspector Emmanuel Amoah has reportedly died by suicide at the police quarters near the Abossey Okai Post Office in Accra.

The deceased officer was stationed at the Odorkor Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) before the unfortunate incident occurred.

According to reports, the incident happened on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at about 12:35 p.m. Chief Inspector Amoah was allegedly found lifeless in his bedroom under disturbing circumstances.

Sources indicate that the officer was discovered seated close to his bed with a sponge tied around his neck and hanging onto a wooden bar in the room.

Police are expected to commence investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident while the body is likely to be conveyed for preservation and autopsy.
