Pokuase: Woman Escape Unhurt As Fire Guts Car

Pokuase: Woman Escape Unhurt As Fire Guts Car
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A 2021 registered Chevrolet 4×4 vehicle was gutted in fire as the driver sped off the Pokuase Interchange this afternoon. The driver, a woman, was fortunate to have escaped the fire accident, right when the fire started around the engine.

The vehicle with registration number GS 466 21 had its interior and the frontage completely burnt within minutes despite the swift response by the Fire Service. It could have been worse if they had delayed a few minutes.

According to an eyewitness account, the driver sensed the flaming engine and brought the car to a halt at the middle lane right under the overpass. For her bravery she managed to take out a few belongings hoping that the Fire tenders could salvage the car from complete destruction.

The fire officers maneuvered and pulled the burning vehicle to the outer lane of the road while they extinguish the fire. Within 10 minutes the fire was extinguished but at a great loss to the owner.

Just when the fire officers had completed their work, some scavengers stormed the scene to collect metal scraps and other items they could trade. One gentleman was even spotted with a sack loaded with the fire extinguisher that was in the 4×4 vehicle.

He wanted more and kept opening some locks. It was a great deal for him but a terrible loss for the woman. The Fire Service are still investigating the accident to learn about what caused it.

From what is being said about the accident, an explosion could have ensued if the Fire Service had delayed. It could have ripped into other vehicles that use that route, leading to a disaster for a Sunday noon.

What eyewitnesses are praying for is that the owner of the vehicle should have comprehensive insurance cover to enable her to recover this property. In the absence of which, she is completely at a loss.
