Persons With Underlying Health Conditions Must Keep Their Guard Up – Dr. Baah Amoh

Private health practitioner, Dr Kwame Baah Amoh has urged persons with underlying health conditions to not subscribe to theories that COVID-19 has lost its sting.

Stressing on the need for persons with underlying health conditions to maintain their guard in these crucial times, Dr. Amoh emphasized that, the novel coronavirus thrived on weakened immunity and thus, diseases such as cancer, diabetes, sickle cell anaemia, heart conditions and kidney disease provide conducive environments for the virus to flourish.

In his articulate engagement with host, Maxwell Ohene Addo, on Plan B FM’s morning show; Nkɔsoɔ Nsɛm, the medical practitioner reiterated that, underlying health conditions to some extent, incapacitated the body’s defense mechanism against diseases, thus, making the recovery process more slower than usual, hence, the relatively higher fatalities among that category of patients.

He urged people with underlying medical conditions to strictly abide by the COVID-19 protocols above all else, since they are the most vulnerable.

“We would have had better numbers against the virus but for the unfortunate matter of underlying health conditions, we all need to be cautious and cut down the probabilities of contracting this menacing virus”, Dr. Amoh admonished.
