CAF President Patrice Motsepe has officially announced his bid for a second term, with the CAF Presidential elections set for March 2025.

Motsepe, who assumed office in March 2021, has led a tenure characterized by transformative reforms and initiatives aimed at advancing African football’s global presence.

The 61-year-old South African businessman and mining magnate has become a significant figure in the governance of African football, particularly through his commitment to financial transparency and institutional accountability within CAF.

“CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe finally agrees to stand as Candidate at CAF Presidential Elections in March 2025,” CAF confirmed, adding that Motsepe’s decision follows calls from numerous CAF Member Association Presidents, Zonal Union Presidents, and other key stakeholders.

Motsepe’s administration has driven major changes, focusing on financial stability, transparency, and developing African football’s global reputation.

His initiatives have included stronger governance protocols, boosting revenue streams, and nurturing grassroots talent across Africa.

He aims to see African clubs and players flourish, eventually competing as formidable contenders on the world stage.

In his first term, Motsepe managed to navigate CAF through challenging financial times, especially as football organizations worldwide grappled with the impact of COVID-19.

With financial stability as a cornerstone, his re-election campaign emphasizes continued growth, technical development, and robust infrastructure for African football.

His vision resonates with African football associations who back his candidacy, hopeful for sustained progress in their national leagues and a greater international presence.
