Visually impaired Ghanaian musician Opata Seth has revealed the struggles and triumphs of his journey in an emotional interview with Blutut Africa on Plan B Showbiz. Speaking candidly about his experiences on Plan B 104.5FM, Seth shared how societal discrimination against persons with disabilities has shaped his resolve to pursue his dreams.
During the interview, Seth recounted a pivotal moment in his life when a resident pastor of an apostolic church in Nkurakan, Eastern Region, advised him to abandon his music career due to his blindness. Feeling disheartened and unaccepted, Seth decided to stop attending the church. It was painful to hear that my talent was being dismissed simply because of my condition, he said.
Despite the setbacks, Seth refused to give up on his passion for musicâ acraft he has nurtured since his school days, where he regularly performed for his peers. “Music has always been my safe space, my way of expressing myself and connecting with others, he explained.
Opata Seth acknowledged that being a disabled person in Ghana comes with unique challenges, as many individuals with disabilities are often frowned upon and underestimated. However, he has turned his experiences into a source of motivation. “I use my condition to inspire others, showing them that disability is not inability. No matter the obstacles, we can still achieve greatness if we believe in ourselves and stay committed to our goals,†he stated.
Seth’s perseverance and talent have culminated in his latest release, Bibi Hi Wo, a song that speaks of hope, resilience, and the promise of brighter days. He hopes that his story will encourage others, particularly those living with disabilities, to pursue their dreams unapologetically.
As he continues to defy the odds, Opata Seth is proving that music transcends physical limitations and societal prejudices. Through his art, he is not only entertaining but also inspiring a movement of empowerment and inclusion for all.
Bibi Hi Wo is now available on major music platforms, and Seth invites everyone to join him in spreading a message of hope and resilience through his music.
