The first burial rites for the Late King of New Juabeng, Daasebre Oti Boateng and queen mother Nana Yaa is currently on going in Koforidua.
The 5-day long event has seen many dignitaries including the President of Ghana and his vice, former President Kuffour as well as the King of Ashanti grace the occasion.
A lot of instructions were given prior to the burial. One of such was a month long ban on noise in the city as well as the mandatory wearing of black or red.OSchools, and other facilities were closed, leaving only food vendors, pharmacies, hospitals, transport stations and banks to operate a week to the funeral date.
GhanaCelebrities have received disturbing videos of palace guards walking the streets of Koforidua and assaulting any resident who is not in black or red.
In the video, a palace guard covered in leaves like an ancient warrior was seen taking off the clothes of a man in traffic who was not wearing the stated colors.
Another video captured the moment where a resident was running for his life as the palace guards chased him.
This has been going on for about a week now and is expected to end when the late king of New juabeng is buried.
