The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and MP for Ketu North Constituency James Klutse Avedzi has directed Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) to complete ongoing projects in the Municipality.

The Chairman made the statement when TMA appeared before the PAC at its Zonal Public hearing at Ho, the Volta Regional Capital where the Committee is probing the Audit report of 2023 on Metropolitan, District Assemblies, Municipal Assemblies from Gt. Accra as well as Senior High Schools from Greater Accra Region

The four projects have stalled due to inadequate funds and late release of District Assemblies Common Fund. Two of the projects have since being completed whiles the other being terminated. TMA will repackage the project and capture it in the 2025 Budget. The redevelopment of the Community Nine project which cost Ghc1.8million is yet to be completed. PAC however raised eyebrows over the cost of the project which includes the construction of a fence wall around the Cemetery including offices for environmental officers. The Chairman said “how big is the cemetery, how many acres because the cost is Ghc 1.8 million” he wondered Offcials of TMA failed to provide details of the project to the Committee in respect of designs and drawings

In furtherance the audit report revealed that TMA outsourced revenue collection to three contractors including Techmax, Kozan and Q & Q where Techmax and Kozan  were supposed remit 25% of all revenue collection to TMA whiles Q & Q are to remit 30% of revenue. However, the TMA was short changed.

The Auditors  has therefore recommended that, Tema Coordinating Director should take necessary action against TAP IN Ghana Limited and IKHAILA Interprise that will enforce the outsourced revenue collectors to collect the debt due them and also invoke sanctions clauses if the need arise.
