The Coliation of Unemployed Trained Teachers (CUTT) 2023 graduate from all the 46 accredited public colleges of 15,000 trained teachers who completed their education remain unemployed, awaiting posting to schools. Despite their efforts, they’ve received no response from the Ministry of Education.
Speaking in an interview with Plan B fm’s Ebaanosen hosted by Ohene Kinnah, Offeh Paul Kakari, organizer for the Coalition of Trained Unemployed Teachers, expressed frustration that they’ve sent letters and follow-ups, only to be met with silence. As a result, they’ve issued a press release, giving the Ministry an ultimatum until the end of May to address the issue.
Kakari said they have completed B.Ed program, passed the Ghana Teacher licensure Examination (GTLE) and finished National Service in February 2025.
He said continue silence from authorities is causing severe financial, emotional and physicalogical hardship on their members.
“If nothing happens, we will take a different approach,” Kakari warned, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
“We are ready and willing to serve, yet the state continue to waste the skills invested in our professional training”, he lamented.
With the academic year underway, these trained teachers are eager to contribute to the education sector and support the development of Ghana’s youth, he noted.
