Rev. Michael Yaw Banson, Resident Pastor of The Rehoboth Holyfire Revival Ministries International, has admitted and addressed the flaws and shortcomings in leadership that have led to the Church’s failure.
In an interview with Nana Asabea on Plan B FM’s social and lifestyle programme, ‘Nyansapɔ Fie’, Rev. Banson said, “According to data and statistics, approximately 70% of Ghanaians are Christians, yet they still engage in bribery through diabolical means, which is a failure on the part of the church.”
He went on to criticise, “The church has not had a positive impact with its teachings and must be held responsible for the diabolical attitudes of Christians. Among church leaders, we fail to demonstrate leadership qualities that we should be passing on to our congregants. Unfortunately, the church’s impact is often measured by how much money it collects, rather than the transformation it brings about. The metrics have now become about how many members we have and how much offering we collect,” he disclosed.
“Furthermore,” he stressed, “if the church can extract huge sums of money from congregants, then it should be held accountable for not transforming them from their diabolical ways.”
On her part, Rev. Dr. Christiana Otoo Lartey, Senior Pastor of Assemblies of God, Kingdom Chapel, said many attributed the backsliding, lackadaisical, and diabolical attitudes to the current economic climate. She noted that many people have refrained from paying tithes, which has resulted in a reduction.
“People are weaning themselves from biblical teachings and studies, but they are willing to consult prophets and seers,” she said.
