His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has expressed displeasure over the act of foreigners heading companies in Ghana saying “it increases costs”.
He said the act of outsiders filling up Managerial positions in businesses is becoming too much.
“I’m not happy with the changes, bringing in a white person as CEO, I’ve seen this before and it increased the cost which at the end increased the expenditure of the business”.
“Ghanaians who find themselves in corporations are also knowledgeable enough to take such positions and therefore need to be pushed”, he added.
The Asantehene went on to say that “I have belief in blacks to also manage the business. I will find out to get a convincing reason behind the decision may be your production is low and that’s why they have to bring in a white person to take over other than that you’re keeping up after the fatality you experienced”.
According to him, an individual with their influence of funds managing an institution isn’t a convincing situation and that he has belief in the local’s abilities.
“We also have the gold and they have the money, we have the human resource too and if we don’t consider all these and we allow fear to grip us, that someone is bringing funds, this won’t help”.
Otumfuo conveyed that the decision for a foreign CEO will be taken further to ascertain the reason behind the move.
“As for me I’ll always fight for my children,” Otumfuo said.
He said this when the Management of AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited paid a visit at the Manhyia Palace where the Managing Director, Mr Eric Asubonteng updated the Asantehene that the firm has named Ghana as a region of which a new Chief Executive Officer from abroad has been appointed and will be introduced to the King soon.
Mr Eric Asubonteng further stated that the company despite experiencing some fatalities early this year which led to production suspension has revitalized.
Their production suspension affected their community services and other activities but is hopeful that by next year, they will flourish.
