The Office of the Special Prosecutor has received a petition to investigate the Ministry of Finance, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) for a questionable one billion-dollar contract awarded to SML to undertake revenue assurance in the downstream and upstream petroleum sector and the gold mining sector.

The producers of the investigative documentary that exposed the shadiness of the contract want the Special Prosecutor to investigate the three parties to the contract for corruption and breach of the procurement law. The three journalists of The Fourth Estate–Evans Aziamor-Mensah, Adwoa Adobea-Owusu and Manasseh Azure Awuni–submitted a petition to the Special Prosecutor on Monday afternoon.Their investigation revealed that the company had no prior experience in providing the services it was handpicked to provide. The company made false claims but admitted the falsehood when it was confronted with evidence by The Fourth Estate journalists.

The year-long investigation by The Fourth Estate also revealed that the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, initiated a contract expansion to the oil and gold production sectors that would give SML over $100 million every year.

Below are the details contained in the seven-page petition
