Ghanaian lawyer and historian, Lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong, has stated that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) requires the former Finance Minister, Ken Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, for investigations—not his lawyers.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Ebaanosen show with Ohene Kinnah on Monday, February 17, 2025, Lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong emphasized that the former Minister of Finance must personally avail himself for the investigation.
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, while providing an update on its ongoing investigations at a press conference in Accra, the OSP declared Ken Ofori-Atta wanted.
The Special Prosecutor, Lawyer Kissi Agyabeng, labeled Ofori-Atta a fugitive wanted for corruption and corruption-related offenses in several cases under investigation. These include the procurement process for the National Cathedral project, the renegotiation of the contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Beijing Jao, the SML-GRA deal, and a contract awarded by the Ministry of Health to Service Ghana Auto Limited/Ambulances.
“Wherever Ken Ofori-Atta is hiding, he should come out and answer questions regarding the corruption allegations against him,” he stated.
His remarks follow a letter from the lawyers of the former Finance Minister to the OSP, indicating that their client is currently receiving medical care at Mayo Hospital in the United States of America (USA).
“Come out and answer the questions from the OSP yourself, not through your lawyers,” he slammed Ofori-Atta
