The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has been exposed big time by the Vice President of IMANI Africa, Bright Simons on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) lies.
According to Mr Simons, the claim by Oppong Nkrumah that Ghana is not the only country that is seeking IMF‘s bailout but hundred (100) countries have also applied for a bailout is untrue.
In a twitter post he said “Only about 25% of countries with an IMF program are getting the treatment Ghana needs (ECF/EFF) & have needed 4 times since 2000”.
Mr. Bright Simons says is untrue because, the IMF also has other programs which like Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI), Rapid Credit Facility (RCF), and catastrophe Containment Relief (CCR) Trust in addition to the bailout program.
Again, Mr Simons says it is not true that Ghana only needs Balance of Payment support.
To him, Debt sustainability & macroeconomic stability help is needed too.
Given these facts, the Vice President of IMANI Africa says government’s spokesperson, the Information Minister has lied.
