The Ashanti regional police command has started investigations into the death of an individual Kwame Appiagyeiinvolved in a Chieftaincy dispute at Pffinso Asamankama in the Ashanti region on Thursday.  The deceased was believed to be in his 40s.

Mr Appiagyei was stabbed and later shot in the chest after he had allegedly shot one person in an attempt to disperse a crowd at Offinso Akwamuhene’s palace at Asamankama, a suburb of Offinso.

The confusion started when the royal family attempted to select a successor for the late chief for Asamankama, Nana Asamoah Okyere, who passed on three years ago.

The Ashanti regional police command has deployed armed police personnel to the community to maintain peace.
