Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a private legal practitioner and social activist, says Bawumia’s latest criticism about President John Dramani Mahama is a strategy to maintain his relevance in the New Patriotic Party.
Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to uphold his own promise to Ghanaians to be a President for all, by reversing the recent mass dismissals of “legitimately employed” Ghanaians from the public sector.
Dr. Bawumia, while calling for the protection and advancement of Ghana’s democracy, also urged President Mahama to protect all citizens by reversing the unfair dismissals.
He further expressed his displeasure about the security situation in the country.
Reacting to this, Oliver Barker-Vormawor noted that the Vice President intended to galvanise the base of the NPP by his statement, stressing that Bawumia is struggling to re-emerge as the presidential candidate of the party.
In a Facebook post, Oliver Barker-Vormawor insisted that the criticism of President John Dramani Mahama by Dr Mahamadu Bawumia is a campaign strategy to enhance his chances of leading the party again in the next polls.
He wrote, “I have read and read Bawumia’s post over and over again. Charley, I do not think that he is talking to us. I think this is a statement for his party and base. The man is campaigning for Flagbearer, in a party where he has lost the confidence of its Akan base. He will struggle to re-émerge Flagbearer again, to lead the party to another loss.
He is campaigning. Allow him. He has just started early. If you sit where he sits, you will know it’s for a good reason.
It’s not about us!
Shalom.”
