President Nana Akufo- Addo’s three MMDCE nominees in the Ashanti region have been rejected by their respective assembly members.

David A. Asare, the nominee for Offinso North, received 57.60 percent of the total votes cast, Michael Awuku Amoah, the nominee for Atwima Nwabiagya South, received 61.30 percent, and Juaben nominee Alex Sarfo Kantanka, the constituency chairman, received just six votes out of the 26 total votes cast.

So far 18 out of 43 MMDCEs nominees have been approved with the majority of them securing 100% overwhelming endorsement.

Nominees are expected to get at least two-thirds of the total votes cast to be confirmed.

If the assembly members reject the nominee in two extra elections, President Akufo-Addo must replace him with another nominee.

Of the 260, 125 are MMDCEs who were already in office and were put forward to be retained while 135 were new entrants.

In terms of gender distribution, 222 were males and 38 were females.
