The Founder of Pressure Group OccupyGhana, Nana Akwasi Awuah has been appointed by President Akufo-Addo as Managing Director (Ag) of Ghana’s premier jewel assaying company Precious Minerals Marketing Company Ltd (PMMC), MyNewsGh.com has authoritatively confirmed.
The former OccupyGhana activist is now the official who assays or approves all gold and other precious minerals meant to leave the shores of Ghana under the auspices of the PMMC for export across the world.
Nana Akwasi Awuah was leading a socio-political and supposed non-partisan pressure and watchdog group to oppose the country’s increasing corruption, abuse of incumbency, and unequal distribution of wealth and public resources under the John Mahama administration.
Nana Akwasi Awuah therefore led a group of middle class professionals, notably lawyers, teachers, doctors, students, researchers, bankers, journalists to stage a non-partisan protests against corruption and the bad economy among other issues.
The organization began as a loose online community using the hashtag #occupyflagstaffhouse and moderated by a few volunteers calling themselves “The Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance,” (CCGRG).
With this juicy appointment now coming to light, it explains why the front of the group has been disunited with accusations of betrayal trumpeted by some former Occupiers including a think tank boss who is also allegedly being “sorted” by a big appointee in government from Ashanti Region who was in a major scandal recently, a source hinted MyNewsGh.com.
The group is now largely defunct reduced to issuing press statements that social media and members of the public at large no longer take serious.
