Obstinate behaviour can affect relationships and the workplace

Pastor Sido Gido cautions workers against revenge in the workplace

Obstinate behaviour can negatively affect relationships and the workplace, particularly when individuals refuse to accept advice, follow rules or work with others, Pastor Sidio Gido has cautioned.

Speaking on Nyansapo Fie on Plan B FM, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Pastor Gido explained that an obstinate person is often unwilling to listen to others and may choose to act according to their own interests, making it difficult and stressful for people around them.

According to him, overconfidence can be one of the factors that contributes to obstinate behaviour. He said some individuals may become so convinced that their opinions or actions are always right that they find it difficult to accept correction or consider the views of others.

Pastor Gido added that, in some cases, repeated behaviour can develop to a point where a person struggles to control their actions. He said such individuals may require support and guidance to help them recognise the effects of their behaviour and make positive changes.

Addressing how obstinate behaviour can be handled in the workplace, he advised employers and colleagues to adopt appropriate measures when dealing with such individuals.

He said this could begin with speaking directly to the person about the behaviour, followed by a verbal warning or, where necessary, a written warning.

Pastor Gido explained that if the individual continues to disregard workplace rules and regulations, employers must follow the appropriate procedures and applicable laws.

Depending on the circumstances, he said disciplinary measures such as suspension or dismissal may be considered.

However, Pastor Gido stressed that where there is an opportunity to help the individual change, support, guidance and constructive correction should also be provided.
