The former chairman of the Parliament’s finance committee and former member of parliament for New Juaben South, Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah, has shared his thoughts on teaching and nursing workouts in a one-on-one conversation with Umaru Sanda Amudu on Citi TV
Earlier yesterday, the nurses and midwives issued a press statement calling on the government to pay nurses and midwives a 20 percent cost of living allowance (COLA) as demanded by the University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG), the National Association of Graduate Teachers and the Education Tertiary Workers’ Union (TEWU).
When asked about his input on the teachers’ and nurses’ allowances in support of cost-of-living increases, he responded that nursing and teacher training allowances should be scrapped. He believes they are no longer useful.
While they discussed a wide range of subjects during the interview section, Dr. Assibey urged Ghanaians to be lenient toward Vice President Bawumia over government engagement with the IMF. “Cut Bawumia some slack.” He said; because he did not initiate the Russian-Ukraine War or the COVID pandemic.
