NPP Suspends Agona West Parliamentary Candidate For Defying Party Directive

NPP Suspends Agona West Parliamentary Candidate For Defying Party Directive
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its 2024 parliamentary candidate for Agona West, Christopher Arthur, for flouting a directive from the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, which barred all internal campaign activities for party positions.

In a suspension letter jointly signed by the Agona West Constituency Secretary, Anthony Kwame Kum, and Chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, Arthur was cited for organizing an electoral area meeting on Sunday, July 6, 2025 — an act deemed to be in direct violation of party regulations.

The party labeled Arthur’s action as “administrative indiscipline” and a blatant disregard for party authority, warning that such behavior undermines efforts to maintain unity and prepare strategically for the upcoming general elections.

“Your action not only disregards the authority of the General Secretary but also undermines internal unity and the strategic work being done to strengthen the party ahead of the next general election,” the letter emphasized.
