“NPP Should Be Grateful for Mahama’s Tolerance – Aborbi”

“NPP Should Be Grateful for Mahama’s Tolerance – Aborbi”

NDC communicator, Samuel Aborbi, has emphasized that President John Dramani Mahama has never attempted to stifle free speech or prevent criticism of his government. Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem on Plan B 104.5 FM, Mr. Aborbi contrasted the current administration’s approach with that of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during its tenure.

According to him, while the NPP’s era was marked by what he described as harassment and brutality against citizens, President Mahama has remained tolerant of dissenting voices. He stressed that no Ghanaian has been arrested simply for criticizing the government.

“The only people who have been picked up are those who go beyond criticism—those who threaten the life of the President on social media or openly insult the Head of State. Apart from that, no one has faced intimidation for expressing their views,” he explained.

Mr. Aborbi further suggested that the bitterness from the NPP’s electoral defeat has led to unguarded comments from its members. However, he maintained that President Mahama has shown extraordinary restraint and compassion in his leadership.

“They should even be thankful that President Mahama has a kind heart. If it had been another person in power, almost all the NPP members would have been behind bars by now,” he added.
