“NPP Should Be Extra Careful”- Political Analyst

Mr. Samuel Boateng, a political analyst has advised the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be extra careful in the manner in which the leaders of the party projects its presidential candidates.

According to Mr. Boateng, the way and manner the leaders of the party impose their flagbearers its alarming and it goes against democracy.

“We are in a democratic era and it’s expected from the NPP to allow the members of the party to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 polls”, he said.

Speaking on PLAN B FM, s Show dubbed Ebaanosen, he stressed that the party has its tradition of allowing delegates to elect candidates of their choice.

Making reference to the introduction of Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and the Agric Minister, Dr. Afriyie Akoto as presidential candidates by President Akufffo Addo during his tour in the Ashanti Region.

Mr. Boateng described that as uncalled for and should not be tolerated from leading members of the party.

“It was totally out of way for the President to project them during his tour, doing that will communicate a whole lot of issues to the members of the party and might lead to misunderstanding in the party”, he said.

He further indicated that, this will be unhealthy for the party as it is preparing to elect a candidate in the 2024 polls.

Leading figures of the party including Boakye Agyarko, Vice President Dr. Bawumia have also been tipped to bear the flag of the party going into 2024 pools.
