The New Patriotic Party (NPP) secured 137 parliamentary seats while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) gained 136 in the recently held General Election.
A statement by the Electoral Commission (EC) indicated that there was an outstanding Constituency, Sene West, Bono Region which was yet to be declared.
It said there also was an independent candidate, who initially contested on the ticket of the NPP in the Fomena Constituency, Ashanti Region in 2012.
Presidential Elections
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential candidate of the NPP, was declared the 8th President of the 4th Republic by the EC Chair and Returning Officer for the Presidential Election on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.
At the end of the polls and without numbers from the Techiman South Constituency, President Akufo-Addo secured 6,730,587 representing 51.302 per cent of the total votes cast which stood at 13,432,587 representing a 79 per cent turnout.
President Akufo-Addo’s main contender, ex-President John Dramani Mahama, of the NDC, polled 6,213,182 representing 47.366 per cent of the total vote cast.
