A group calling itself the Alliance for Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA) has expressed disappointment with the appointment of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as the Senior Presidential advisor, Special envoy on International Finance revoked.

Speaking to the spokesperson for the group, Kamal on Plan B FM’s morning show ‘NKOSUONSEM’ hosted by Obidehye Kofi Sekyi, Mr. Kamal said Mr. Ofori-Atta has not been in the good books of Ghanaians regarding certain economic decisions.

According to him, while the President has the right to appoint individuals he deems fit in his government, doing so in this manner is in bad faith.

Mr. Kamal noted that the best course of action would have been for the President to allow Mr. Ofori-Atta to rest.

In their view, such a decision is a slap in the face to Ghanaians.

“The position he has been given is even more significant than that of the Finance Minister; he will be making more decisions than the current minister. Where did this position come from? We, the NPP foot soldiers, are not happy. We understand you have the right to appoint, but some appointments are unnecessary. Therefore, the President should revoke this appointment.”

*REVOKE KEN OFOR-ATTA’S FACE-SAVING APPOINTMENT IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST*

23 February 2024, Accra – The Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA) is scandalized by the latest appointment of embattled Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as “Senior Presidential
Advisor and Special Envoy for International Finance and Private Sector Investment.”

In as much as the President of the Republic is clothed with the executive authority to appoint
persons he deems fit into his government, it is equally important that he refrains from exercising that power arbitrarily and capriciously.

It is needless to say that Ken Ofori-Atta’s performance as Finance Minister post-COVID-19
has been questionable, and the least the Ghanaian people expect is for him to step aside from the economic decisions of the country as pertain to other jurisdictions. Ken Ofori-Atta
remains the only Finance Minister, at least in the Fourth Republic, who has received public
condemnation from MPs of his party (NPP).

Appointing him to this novel position, albeit advisory. amid our current economic challenges is nothing but a slap in the faces of the Ghanaian electorates.

Mr. President, with all due respect, it is about time you listened to the sentiments of the electorates in whose name you exercise your presidential powers in order not to make the campaign difficult for our new Flagbearer.

The Ghanaian people have had enough of Ken Ofori-Atta!

AFFA calls on all well-meaning party members and sympathizers to join the call to get Ken Ofori-Atta out of this latest appointment as it is counterproductive to the NPP’s strive to break the 8.
Long live NPP!
Long live Ghanal!
