In a statement issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP confirmed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged winner of the contest, as declared by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
The party congratulated Dr. Bawumia on what it described as an emphatic victory and extended best wishes to him as he leads the NPP into the 2028 general elections.
The statement also commended all aspirants who participated in the contest, including Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Frimpong, for their commitment to the party, adherence to democratic principles, and the maturity demonstrated throughout the process.
The NPP further praised the Presidential Elections Committee, chaired by Joseph Osei Owusu, for its professionalism and transparency. Appreciation was also extended to the Electoral Commission, the Ghana Police Service, the media, and party delegates for ensuring a peaceful and incident-free election.
With the primaries concluded, the party has called on its members and supporters to unite, reconcile, and rally behind the elected flagbearer in the supreme interest of the party.
“United in purpose, the NPP will work tirelessly to secure victory in the next general elections,” the statement said, adding that the elephant symbol remains a sign of victory
