Nothing Could Save Him; He Died Upon Impact- Ekumfi Accident Leaves Residents In Shock

Nothing Could Save Him; He Died Upon Impact- Ekumfi Accident Leaves Residents In Shock
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Toyota Corolla Registration number GV 22-14 was crushed upon impact with the a Metro Mass Transit bus with registration number GS 2614-17. The driver, according to eyewitnesses was speeding excessively even when he was overtaking a car in front of it.

The driver of the bus maneuvered to create some space for the reckless driver heading towards them but nothing could save him. He drove his car straight into the bus and his car crushed leaving sharp metals that had torn from the impact tearing him apart.

“No screams, no noise. His life was knocked off completely. There was nothing we could do to save him,” an eyewitness said.

Another eyewitness who was onboard the bus disclosed that the casualties could have been more if the bus driver wasn’t defensive.

“The driver swerved to the shoulders of the road only to create way for the speeding vehicle but that didn’t save the situation. We really can’t tell if he lost control of the vehicle.”

But one other witnessed on board another car that followed the Toyota Corolla said the deceased had been driving recklessly on the road.

About ten (10) passengers onboard the bus sustained various forms of injuries as a result of the crush. They were admitted and transported by the National Ambulance Service to the nearest hospital for emergent care.

The accident happened at Ekumfi Akwakrom on the Kasoa- Mankessim highway. Several attempts have been made to identify the deceased but to no avail.

It is assumed given the license plate of the Toyota Corolla, that the driver is an employee of a government institution. The Ambulance Service and the Fire Service managed to retrieve his lifeless body from the debris. They had to cut through crushed metals, a situation which caused some delay and a huge traffic on the Kasoa- Mankessim road.

The body of the deceased have been deposited at the Saltpond mortuary awaiting preservation and autopsy.
