Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Frederick Acheampong, has stated that there is no set date for the return of the Ghana Premier League.
He said this in an interview with the media after being part of the GFA delegation that held a behind closed doors meeting with Inspector General of Police George Dampare and Kumasi Asante Kotoko officials following violent clashes witnessed in a league game between Kotoko and Nsoatreman.
Sounding a similar tone to that of Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairman John Ansah, Frederick Acheampong stated that the Ghana Police Service is working to arrest more suspects connected to the incident that led to the death of Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong. However, on the subject of a return date for the suspended Ghana League, the football administrator wasn’t sure of a date.
“We are going through the process and we will discuss a return date for the league when we are through with the process. We are meeting with Division One clubs via a Zoom meeting tonight, we meet with Ghana Premier League clubs tomorrow (Thursday, February 6), then Friday (February 7), we meet with the supporters’ leadership so after that we will meet and decide (on the league’s return date).”
