No One Can ‘Force’ Me To Sack Ofori Atta – Akufo-Addo Boldly Speaks Again

President Akufo-Addo to meet MMDCEs, House of Chiefs today over galamsey
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

President Akufo-Addo is currently in the Ashanti Region on a tour of the country. The region is probably the biggest giver of votes to the ruling New Patriotic Party and many expect a lot form the party. However, this hasn’t been the case as many residents of the Ashanti Region have been mounting pressure on the government for more infrastructure in the region.

One of the questions that keeps coming to the President relates to reshuffling and sacking of his ministers who are not performing. Same question was posed to the president when he joined OTEC FM’s Captain Koda on the morning show.

According to President Akufo-Addo upon assuming office he came to meet an IMF programme left over by the NDC. He explained that it took Ofori-Atta to transform the economy and bring it back to normalcy. He added that Ghana was able to launch Free SHS and 1D1F just in the first year of assuming office because Ofori Atta was brilliant. He added that there are food price increases but there is abundance of food and so he has no reason to sack Afriyie Akoto.

The President further stated that the work of Amoako Atta has been great and this has made roads under the NPP unprecedented in the whole of Ghana. According to Akufo-Addo, he remembered how John Mahama used to say he was the best when it comes to roads. Akufo-Addo insisted that this wasn’t true before the NPP have done better.

“I trust my Finance Minister. The issues Ghana are facing are not his fault so how do I sack him? If he had flopped in his first term I would have let him go. The agriculture minister and roads minister are some of the major pillars in my government. Their performance was excellent and so there is nothing I can do about them” Akufo-Addo said.

Akufo-Addo boldly stated that despite the pressure on him to sack these ministers he is confident that these are the very same who have helped his government. He added that no one can compel him to change his mind and will only do so when it comes to his attention that the person has failed or sleeping o the job
