James Tamakloe, a communications member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cast doubt on the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagship proposal to formalize a 24-hour economy. Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem.
According to him, the NDC’s promise was championed only by the Executive and a section of the Legislature, leaving a critical institutional gap that undermines the feasibility of the policy. He stated that such a major national economic shift requires alignment across all arms of government, which is currently absent.
Mr. Tamakloe also questioned the financial clarity of the policy. He noted that the NDC had earlier identified 4 billion dollars as the fund to drive the 24-hour economy initiative, yet it remains unclear how much of this amount was actually captured or allocated in the budget presented.
He stressed that Ghanaians deserve transparency and detailed planning, especially for a policy the NDC has made its frontline campaign message.
