A leading voice in the fight against illegal mining in Ghana, Erastus Asare Donkor reports that some illegal miners arrested by the youth of Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region and handed over to the police have been released.

The persons who are Chinese immigrants have gone back to the Gyare forest, where they are continuing with their illegal mining activities.

Making this known in a post shared via social media, he said “The Nkawkaw District Police has released Chinese miners arrested by the youth and handed over to the police. As we speak they’ve gone back to mining illegally in the Gyare forest”.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Kofi Armah Buah, has assured the people of Ghana of fighting galamsey.

He intends to name and shame big names behind the menace to deter them from engaging in the illegality.
