New Juaben: Ban On Noise-Making Starts 18 April

The New Juaben Traditional Council has announced that effective 18 April there will be a ban on noise-making and all other social and religious activities associated with noise in the area.

Ending 18 May, the ban is being imposed as part of tradition and custom for the final funeral rite and burial of the late Omanhene of New Juaben Daasebre Oti Boateng and the late queen mother Nana Yaa Daani.

The burial takes place between 13 and 18 May 2022. Daasebre Oti Boateng passed on in August 2021 while the queen mother died in the first week of January 2022.

Addressing the media in Koforidua, the Gyaasehene of the New Juaben Traditional Area Nana Twumasi Darkwa said as part of measures to have a befitting burial ceremony “Doti yie” for the late Omanhene and queen mother, effective 18 April to 18 May 2022 there will be a ban on drumming, wedding, funeral, and any other activities which is likely to create noise in the traditional area.

He added that the traditional council will place a ban on all brisk business activities in the New Juaben area with the exception of food vendors and pharmacies.

He said defaulters will be sanctioned.

“New Juaben Traditional Area wishes to announce that, strict compliance should be given to the directives spelt out by the traditional council to avert further problems with the authorities of the Juaben Traditional Council,” the Gyaasehene said.

The Gyaasehene admonished that, within the said date of the final funeral rite, all sympathisers, loved ones and the people of New Juaben Traditional Area should wear the usual traditional red and black dresses to mourn the late Omanhene and the queen mother.
