Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Mr Eric Adjei, has disclosed that essential equipment meant for training head porters (commonly known as Kayayei) has been stolen from the agency’s facility following the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on Accra100.5 FM’s Citizen Show, hosted by Nana Kwabena Bobie Ansah on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Mr. Adjei said the theft has dealt a major blow to the continuity of training programmes designed to empower vulnerable women and improve their livelihoods.
He further revealed that Green Hubs established under the initiative were handed over to private individuals instead of being managed for the benefit of the public.
He described the development as a case of gross mismanagement, calling for accountability and urgent corrective action.
Despite the setback, the NEIP boss assured stakeholders of his administration’s commitment to restoring the integrity of the programme.
He pledged that resources dedicated to youth and women’s empowerment would be safeguarded and properly utilised to achieve their intended impact.
