The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted a three-member committee to investigate allegations of inducement and vote buying during the party’s Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat on Friday, February 7, 2026, the NDC said the decision follows reports of widespread inducement and vote-buying during the primaries held the same day.
The committee will be chaired by Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, with Majority Leader Hon. Mahama Ayariga and legal practitioner Emefa Fugah serving as members.
According to the statement signed by the General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the committee is expected to submit its findings by Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The NDC noted that the probe forms part of the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and ethical political conduct. Beyond investigating the allegations, the committee has also been tasked to make recommendations, including possible sanctions and long-term reforms aimed at decisively ending inducement and vote buying in the party’s internal electoral processes.
The party assured its members, stakeholders, and the general public of its resolve to uphold the highest standards of integrity in its internal elections, urging supporters to remain calm while the committee carries out its work.
The NDC says further updates will be communicated in due course.
