NDC operative accuses party executives of collaborating with NPP to undermine campaigns

NDC Set To Elect 2024 Flagbearer In November This Year

According to a report from 3news. In the midst of intensifying political activity leading up to the December 2024 elections, a prominent figure within Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC), James Agbey, has voiced concerns that certain NDC executives are covertly collaborating with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to subvert NDC’s campaign efforts. Agbey’s allegations cast a spotlight on internal conflicts within the NDC and expose the risks of potential party infighting during a critical election season.

Accusations of Collusion in Key Constituencies

Agbey’s statement highlights specific areas, including Korle Klottey, Dome Kwabenya, and Awutu Senya West constituencies, where he alleges that some NDC executives have aligned themselves with the NPP, potentially jeopardizing the NDC’s campaign. “Let me put on record that their anti-party conduct of undermining the party and doing business with the NPP… is being watched closely,” Agbey asserted.

Agbey expressed dismay over the reported conduct of certain constituency leaders, accusing them of using their influence to undermine NDC’s parliamentary candidates. He characterized these actions as “open treachery” and emphasized the potential consequences for those involved, vowing that such betrayal will not go unpunished.

Agbey’s Warning to Alleged Traitors

As a seasoned member of the NDC’s operations team, Agbey did not hold back in his criticism, warning that individuals engaged in what he described as “treacherous” conduct would face serious repercussions. “As a matter of fact, we are closely watching them,” he stated, warning that the NDC will “deal ruthlessly” with those who attempt to compromise the party’s objectives for personal gain. Agbey underscored that the NDC is committed to safeguarding its campaign integrity and that actions counterproductive to party unity would not be tolerated.

Agbey has traveled across Ghana, gathering feedback from the party’s grassroots supporters and documenting complaints about these alleged collaborations. He vowed that the NDC would “nip their actions in the bud” and ensure that any behavior contrary to the party’s mission would be met with decisive action.

Accusations of Financial Motivations

Agbey’s statement suggests that financial incentives may be motivating these executives’ alleged cooperation with the NPP. He voiced concerns that the executives in question might be swayed by the prospect of monetary or material benefits, compromising their commitment to the NDC’s success. Agbey emphasized that the NDC’s mission in the upcoming election should take precedence over personal interests and that any such actions aimed at personal gain were unacceptable.

“The NDC is clearly winning the 2024 elections,” he asserted, cautioning those within the party who are allegedly “doing business with the NPP… with the hope of cashing out on monetary and material gains.” Agbey warned these individuals that their conduct would not be allowed to derail the NDC’s path to victory.

Call to Protect Party Unity

Agbey’s message carried a rallying cry for committed NDC members, urging them to stay united and committed to the party’s overarching goal. He emphasized that the NDC is determined to prevent any internal disruptions and will not permit “a few elements to derail the party for their personal parochial interest.” He called on the NDC’s operations team and dedicated supporters to remain vigilant and work together to prevent further division within the party.

A Firm Stand for 2024 Victory

Looking ahead to the December elections, Agbey reiterated the NDC’s focus on reclaiming power from the NPP, stressing that “it is now or never.” He assured NDC supporters that victory is within reach, provided the party maintains its cohesion and determination. Expressing confidence in the leadership of former President John Mahama, Agbey urged all party members to “keep the faith,” reminding them that every effort is being made to ensure Mahama’s inauguration as the next president of Ghana.

In his closing remarks, Agbey underscored the urgency of unity and resilience, reminding party members that success in the 2024 elections is within reach. “We are leaving no stone unturned until His Excellency John Mahama is sworn into office as the next president of the Republic of Ghana,” he concluded.

The Road Ahead

As political tensions mount, Agbey’s accusations have brought to light the challenges of maintaining unity within a major political party. The alleged betrayal by certain executives not only threatens NDC’s internal solidarity but also highlights the potential pitfalls of internal divisions on the path to a high-stakes election. Whether Agbey’s warnings will prompt a shift in party dynamics or exacerbate the rift remains to be seen, but as election day approaches, the NDC’s response to these internal challenges will undoubtedly be critical in determining its electoral fortunes.
