The Ashaiman Constituency Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chairman Joe, has reacted to the recent Supreme Court ruling concerning an election petition in the constituency.
Speaking on Ebaanosen on Plan B 104.5 FM, Chairman Joe stated that a candidate cannot be considered a confirmed winner once an election matter has been taken to court. He explained that seeking judicial interpretation leaves the outcome open until the legal process is completed.
According to him, the NDC remains calm and confident as the case progresses.
He said the party is not unsettled by the petition filed by Nyindam or by the Supreme Court’s decision, which he described as the country’s highest judicial authority.
Chairman Joe also commented on calls by the opposition for a reshuffle of some government ministers, questioning how often similar actions were undertaken during their time in office.
He further urged Members of Parliament, including those from the NDC, to maintain close ties with their constituents, stressing the importance of continued engagement with citizens who contributed to their electoral success.
Touching on national issues, Chairman Joe mentioned recent reductions in fuel prices and import duties at the ports, which he said have eased the cost of doing business for traders. He also observed that travel opportunities for Ghanaians seeking economic opportunities abroad have improved.
On the possibility of a re-run election, he stated that the NDC is prepared and does not view the development as either a victory or a loss for any political party, noting that the Supreme Court’s ruling allows the legal process to take its course.
He concluded by expressing confidence in the party’s future electoral prospects.
