Nana Addo’s SoNA Address Time Pushed From 8 am To 1 pm

The scheduled 8:00 am for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s to deliver the State of the Nation Address (SoNA) on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 has now been moved from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The change in time was announced by Parliament in a press statement.

Explaining the reason for the change in time, the press statement noted that it has been necessitated by the business of the house for the week. The address will be the first for President Nana Addo in his second term of office. The address is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

Alban Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, addressing the house on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 after the resumption of parliament following a 3-week shutdown due to COVID-19, noted that the house will host the President who is expected to deliver his address on March 9, 2021.

He continued “The House will be privileged to receive the President who is obligated to deliver the State of the Nation Address. His Excellency has given an indication to me that he is ready to do the obligation on Tuesday 9th March 2021.”

The address according to the speaker is expected to include an outline of plans for the president’s second term in office, health and the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, agriculture, security, education, environment among other areas of national interest.

Touching on this year’s budget, the Speaker added that it will be presented before Parliament on Friday, March, 12, 2021.

Concluding he remarked “In accordance with Article 179 of the constitution, his excellency has given further indication his horse is prepared to present and lay before this house the Budget 2021 on Friday 12 March for consideration and approval.”
