Chief Superintendent Vincent Adotey, the Teshie District police commander, has revealed his personal survey shows about 98 per cent of people living in Teshie are into drugs.

According to the Teshie District police commander, all kinds of drugs and weed are being peddled in Teshie.

He challenged the Chiefs and Elders to join the fight against drug abuse in Teshie.

Speaking at a gathering, Chief Superintendent Vincent Adotey stated, “Teshie has been noted as one of the highest in the country where people abuse drugs. All kinds of drugs are found here; you see weed being peddled openly.

I will challenge the Chiefs and Elders to start joining as in this fight, sometimes I interview the young ones, and they say it is the elderly people, it is the chiefs who are doing it”.

He added, “So, please, you have to begin to mount platforms and talk against drug abuse. My personal survey that I have seen in Teshie is that when you put 100 per cent down, about 98 per cent are into drugs. The youths have taken a large number, and then some of the elderly people too. You will see some of them are wearing black lipstick.

He further emphasised that drug abuse is bringing a whole lot of unnecessary assaults and burglaries.

The Teshie District commander of police also revealed that ride-hailing drivers cannot come to Teshie because of thieves.

Chief Superintendent Vincent Adotey added, “Today Uber cannot come to Teshie because the thieves will snatch their phones. Every day, we have cases of phone snatching from ride-hailing drivers”.

“Wherever drugs are, they bring a lot of vices, and prostitution will come. Robbery will come, stealing, assault and fighting here and there”.

Meanwhile, some netizens have reacted to the Chief Superintendent Vincent Adotey remarks, saying, “This is what happens when you put people who are not smart into a position. 98%???  How did he get his sample?

Just tarnishing the image of a whole town on a ‘trust me, bro’”.

One netizen added, “Charly, this thing be true la I engaged a maison and a labourer on my site Okpoi Gonno a swear they both smoke weed la in fact sometimes I go there unannounced and catch both of them in the act while my job lie idle”.

Another netizen wrote, “Unless he kill we all for the town oooo chale, go Nsawan see the weed person dey smoke there pass what we get here sef hw3, at the end of the day you’d arrest a weed smoker, sentence him and later feed him with Ghanaians’ our tax yet he’s still there in prison smoking for appetite”

“No known sample size, random selection, or data collection process, potential for bias in observations, and no statistical rigour or independent verification” How can you expect us to just accept 98% on the basis of “my personal survey”? And trust me 98% is virtually everyone”, a netizen added.

Another netizen fired shots at the Police commander, “Why denigrating a whole town like that and still be at post, yes some of the youth in Teshie are into drugs but 98 per cent is nothing but baseless research”
