MTN FA CUP: Nania FC stun Hearts of Oak in Round of 64

MTN FA CUP: Nania FC stun Hearts of Oak in Round of 64
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Nania FC, a lower division side owned by Ghanaian football legend Abedi Ayew Pele, pulled off a major upset in the MTN FA Cup by eliminating powerhouse club Hearts of Oak in the round of 64.

Despite being the underdogs, Nania held their own against Hearts, playing them to a 0-0 draw in regulation time. The game ultimately went to penalties, where Nania emerged victorious with a score of 4-3.

The victory was made even more impressive by the fact that it came on the road, with Hearts’ fans in attendance at the Pobiman Complex left disappointed and frustrated. This loss marks another setback for Hearts, who have struggled to find their footing in the Ghana Premier League this season and are now out of the FA Cup, a tournament they have won twice in the past three years.

Hearts are currently without a permanent head coach following the dismissal of Dutch manager Martin Koopman, with Abdul Rahim Bashiru serving as interim coach. The team’s lack of stability both on and off the pitch appears to be taking its toll, as they continue to struggle to find consistency in their performance.
