Three slots for the semifinals of the 2022 MTN FA Cup competition have been taken up.
Ghana Premier League trio Aduana FC, Bechem United and Dreams FC secured wins within regulation time in their respective quarterfinals games Wednesday.
Aduana got the better of King Faisal in a five-goal thriller split 3-2 at the Nana Agyeman Badu (NAB) I Stadium in Dormaa.
The opening goal came through a penalty for the hosts after Emmanuel Gyamfi was brought down by Baba Yahaya. Sam Adams stepped up and neatly converted from the spot in the 21st minute – his 4th goal in the competition.
Four minutes later, striker Manan Mudasiru doubled up for Aduana who also had centre-back Nurudeen Abdulai deflecting a Zubairu Ibrahim shot into his own net on the half-hour mark.
Gyamfi restored the two-goal advantage for Aduana just two minutes into the second half. King Faisal got a face-saving goal at the 90th-minute mark through Osman Ibrahim and exited the competition with a 3-2 defeat.
At Ohene Ameyaw Park, Bechem dispatched Division One side Tamale City 4-2. A brace from Augustine Okrah as well as one each from Hafiz Konkoni and Latif Anabila put the Hunters on song while Kingsley Braye and substitute Bismark Asare scored the goals for the second-tier side.
It was a 2-1 win for Dreams FC against Kotoku Royals at Dawu Park.
Forward Agyenim Boateng Mensah gave the ‘Still Believe’ Boys a 1-0 lead. The Divison One side managed to peg back through Joe Boateng just after the hour mark before Adamu Amadu registered the semifinals ticket clincher with a free-kick from long range during stoppage time.
Skyy FC will be hosting holders Hearts of Oak in the final quarterfinal fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.
