Information available to Planbfmonline.com indicates that Francis Kwabena Ankomah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adansi South in the Ashanti Region, has been ordered to refund close to Ghc68, 000 of the MP’s Common Fund that he is said to have misapplied.

After it was found out that the DCE has misapplied the aforementioned amount, Madam Irene Naa Torshie Addo, the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund, ordered him to refund the money.

Portion a letter dated October 27, 2021, directing the DCE to refund the money read “It has come to the notice of the office of The Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund that the First Quarter 2021 MPs Common Fund release to the District was used by the Assembly for purposes other than the MPs Constituency project.”

The letter further noted that the DEC is directed to refund the amount involved (Ghc67, 320.27) into the MPs Labor constituency Fund for the intended purpose as soon his MP’s common fund is received.

The letter pointed out that the DEC’s action had breached standard practices in regards to the DACF.

Concluding, the letter mentioned that such actions constitute misapplication of funds as prescribed in the PFMR 2019, LI 2378 and the guidelines governing the application of the DACF by MMDAs.
