Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus’ goal against SC Freiburg has been named as the best goal scored in the 2023-2024 UEFA Europa League season.
The goal was one of two goals scored by Kudus in West Ham United’s 5-0 win over German side SC Freiburg in the Round of 16 stage at the London Stadium.
Kudus picked up the ball inside his half and run with the ball over 50 yards while dribbling past two Freiburg players before slotting the ball into the net with his weaker right foot.
This is the second award the goal has fetched for Kudus in the wake of Kudus winning West Ham’s Goal of the Season Award at the club’s end of season awards.
In his debut season with West Ham, Kudus excelled after joining from Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam; he scored five goals in nine games in the Europa League as The Hammers exited the tournament at the quarterfinals after falling to finalists Bayer Leverkusen.
In the English Premier League, Kudus produced eight goals and six assists in 33 appearances.
