West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus has been charged with violent conduct by the FA following his outburst during Saturday’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Ghana international faces the possibility of a longer ban after being investigated for “acting in an improper manner” in addition to the red card offence that led to his initial suspension.
Kudus received a three-game ban, keeping him sidelined until after the next international break, but this punishment could potentially be extended.
He was shown a red card, which was upgraded by VAR from an initial yellow, after kicking out and shoving Spurs defender Micky van de Ven in the face during Tottenham’s 4-1 victory.
The incident escalated when Kudus also pushed Pape Matar Sarr, while Richarlison fell to the ground after charging at Kudus amid the chaos involving multiple players.
The FA confirmed that both clubs and Kudus have two days to respond to the charges, with statements issued regarding the conduct of both teams during the match.
West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui acknowledged the incident but admitted he did not see the altercations. He expressed concern for both Kudus and the club.
