MOFA Under Afriyie Akoto Has Failed Ghanaians – Social Commentator

Ministry of Food and Agriculture says, although it is concerned about the high cost of food prices, little can be done from its end to tackle the situation.

It attributes the increases to factors beyond its control, such as fertilizer supply, cost of agricultural inputs, transportation cost, among others.

Speaking on Plan B Fm Ebanoosen hosted by Bohyeba Afriyie Mr Nicheren Appiah a Social commentator Expressed how Disappointing the message from the ministry of Agriculture is.

He said that even if truly they have no control over it, As a ministry they are not suppose to come out to spill to Ghanaians that they can’t do the work they have been Assigned to.

He Also said the Ministry under Hon Afriyie Akoto over the years have been best in proving that they are a failure.

“The minister has been very poor in responding to the critical needs of the industry. More than 300 poultry farms have collapsed yet the poultry industry is the largest employer of the agricultural sector”, He said

He added that collaboration between key stakeholders in the agricultural sector and policy makers have been poor.

“There has not been any engagement on the part of government with the private sector to find long term solutions to some of these issues. In fact, government owes suppliers of fertilisers, suppliers of seeds, food caterers and the National Food Buffer Stock Company.

He added that market women should stop causing Artificial shortage which they Do to unpopular the Government.
