A Ghana Armed Forces officer has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in a brutal attack in Bawku, Upper East region.

The officer, believed to be a warrant officer, was walking when he was targeted and killed by the assailants.

The tragic news has quickly spread on social media, sparking outrage and concern among residents.

The killing comes amidst escalating violence in Bawku, where tensions have been mounting over the past few weeks.

Just last month, a woman and her two daughters were killed in their home by men believed to be in military uniform. This incident has deepened mistrust between some civilians and the military, with calls for the withdrawal of soldiers from the region.

The latest attack has raised fears among locals that the military could retaliate with force, worsening the already tense situation.

Social media users have expressed frustration and called on the government to act quickly, urging authorities to live up to their promise of resolving the conflict.

With armed groups becoming bolder, many in Bawku are now living in fear of further violence.
